Jeffrey Y. Wang,
M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Wang is a native of Montgomery County, Maryland, but has traveled around the country to receive his education and surgical training before returning to his home state. After graduating cum laude from the University of Virginia, Dr. Wang continued his passion for research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and received a patent for his development of an adjustable, percutaneous helical stent. He then moved to Southern California to attend medical school at Loma Linda University. After graduating, he then went back to the east coast for his general surgery residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York, where he was Chief Resident and received numerous awards for his leadership and mentorship. Dr. Wang completed his surgical training with a vascular surgery fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. After living in so many different parts of the country, Dr. Wang decided to return to Maryland to serve the community in which he grew up and join Horizon Vascular Specialists.
In addition to being an accomplished inventor and surgeon, Dr. Wang is also a well-published author of research in vascular surgery journals, including Annals of Vascular Surgery and Vascular Disease Management. His papers encompass his extensive experience and innovative approach to vascular surgery. Through his mastery of new techniques using the most advanced devices and equipment, he has also been invited to speak at numerous conferences and meetings all over the world to help educate and train other physicians and advance the field of vascular surgery. Dr. Wang is internationally recognized as one of the foremost leading vascular surgeons for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). He has also been featured in the media on such programs as Fox45 News and highly-respected trade publications such as Endovascular Today.
Dr. Wang serves as the Director of Vascular Research for Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. Dr. Wang is also one of the youngest physicians to be included in Washingtonian magazine’s Top Doctors list, which is voted on by the peer physician community.
When he’s not seeing patients or speaking at conferences, Dr. Wang can be found on the golf course or spending time with his wife and two daughters.
