“Dr. Haider performed an aortobifemoral bypass graft on me. Before this procedure, I could only walk 150 to 200 before I would have to stop and sit for 10 to 15 minutes and wait for the blood to circulate and repeat the process until I reached my destination. “For approximately a year, I suffered from pain in my lower left leg due to varicose veins. My quality of life, from a physical perspective, was pretty low since I tend to live an active life. I met with Dr. Haider and he laid out a solid game plan in which he would perform the VNUS closure procedure, supplemented by the phlebectomy of varicose veins. After the procedures were completed, my quality of life increased significantly in which I experienced no pain in the leg which was a welcome relief. In addition, both procedures went very well in which the care and precision I received from Dr. Haider was fantastic. Also, there was minimal scarring and no discomfort during the healing process.

“I had suffered with blockages and circulation problems in the main artery of my left leg since the latter part of 2012. Since that time I have undergone approximately 12 surgeries to correct the issues unsuccessfully. It seemed that ever 3-4 months I was requiring another surgery because of yet, another blockage. “Dr. Haider had already done stent implants in both of my legs when he inspired me to agree to carotid implant surgery. My father-in-law had a stroke and lived with us for a few years and I did not want to put my wife through that experience again, so agreed to the procedure. “While vacationing, I experienced weakness and pain in my legs walking. Upon returning home, I consulted my general physician, who recommended Horizon Vascular Specialists. After my initial visit, I was scanned and it was determined there was blockage in both lower legs. I was prescribed medicine to determine if that would help, There was no improvement in condition. Dr. Haider recommended stent placement. I was apprehensive having this invasion to my body, but from my previous visits, I had trust in the doctor and staff. Dr. Haider and staff outlined what would take place, the time frame and outlook. Arriving at the Germantown location I was meet by nurse, Claire, who would prepare me for my procedure. Having been an air medic in the Air Force and worked along side nurse, she performed the task of easing any last minute fears and preparing me for my procedure. Through medication I was aware and talkative throughout my stent placement by Dr. Haider. After an hour, which seemed like no time and no pain associated with the procedure, I was wheeled back to recovery. The leg which was used for entry was stabilized and I was keep warm and comfortable. Dozing off at times I was in peace and experienced no pain. During my recovery I was visited by Dr. Haider who advised me on how everything went and my prognosis. After 4 hours in recovery I was released with instructions how to take care of my small wound and that I would be receiving a follow up call next day, an appointment was made for me to visit the doctor at his office. During the following week of recovery I experienced a slight ache at the location of the stent, I contributed it to my vein having it placed and the ache was only when I stood up and the ache subsided after three days. Since my procedure my walking has showed no signs of my previous pain and will continue with my medicine and follow up visits. I will monitor and consider having the procedure on my other leg if needed. I reported to a friend who was scheduled for his procedure, that all went well and it was a piece of cake, and to go for it. My friend had it done and was in complete agreement with my assessment, To those needing the stent placement procedure, you can feel complete trust from the doctors and staff. I have thanked them and will continue to recommend Horizon Vascular Specialists.”

“I was diagnosed with a pretty severe blockage in my left femoral artery. At the time it was quite painful to walk for any distance, and I was forcing myself to walk a mile every day - in 20 minutes. The procedure went smoothly. I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of bruising or physical pain at the insertion site, I attribute that to the skill of the doctor - less damage means less healing to do. 3 Days later - I took 5 minutes off my walk, and experienced no pain. “My father was referred to Dr. Yoon after having 4 strokes in a 10-day period. Based on imaging and clinical assessment, it was deemed that severe carotid stenosis was the likely culprit. With no time to waste, Dr. Yoon and his team made immediate arrangements for surgical intervention in the form of a carotid endarterectomy. Scheduled less than 48 hours later, the surgery was conducted. Right after surgery I was called by Dr. Yoon personally, which meant a lot to me. What impressed me even more was this doctor's choice of words; he stated, "Your father did great!," not the usual: "The surgery went well." As evidenced by the subsequent carotid ultrasound and patient's own perceived feeling of wellness, the surgery was subjectively and objectively-speaking, a resounding success! Nearly 3 months later, Dad has been stroke-free and rehabilitated back to 95% of his pre-strokes baseline. Don't let Dr. Yoon's uber-youthful appearance fool you; he is a well-versed, very modest, charismatic gift to the art of vascular surgery. Of equal worth of noting were the contributions made by the practice's nurse practitioner, Julie Cibula. Leaving my father and I with an enthusiatic first-impression of not only herself, but also of the practice as a whole, she was the first representative of Horizon Vascular Specialists that we met. She met with us several times leading up to surgery and was there everyday after surgery, diligently checking up on us. She embodies everything that I could ever aspire to be as a nurse myself. Her professionalism, compassion and coordination-of-care will never be forgotten!”
