Mihae received her Master of Science Degree as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Georgetown University in 2007. She joined Horizon in 2014 with over 17 years of experience in cardiovascular and neurovascular nursing and is Board certified in both Adult- Critical Care Nursing and Cardiac-Vascular Nursing. Mihae started her nursing career as a graduate nurse in the Intensive Care Step-down Unit at Montgomery General Hospital in 1997. She followed with Critical Care nurse training and worked in the three Intensive Care Units at Washington Adventist Hospital (WAH) from 1998 to 2007. Upon completion of her Nurse Practitioner (NP) degree, she joined her Critical Care physician colleagues as one of the first Nurse Practitioners in the Medical-Surgical ICU at WAH. Before joining Horizon, Mihae spent 4 years in Baltimore at the University of Maryland Medical Center in the Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit and Neuro-interventional Radiology Department caring for some of the sickest cardiac and stroke patients in Maryland.
Mihae is passionate about excellent patient care. Her philosophy is to treat her patients, as she would want her own family treated. She enjoys educating her patients regarding their diagnosis, medications and treatment. She has lectured at the State level on Acute Stroke Management. She also enjoys mentoring Nurse Practitioners and has precepted NP students from Georgetown, University of Maryland and Drexel Universities, as well as, hosting International NP Students from her home country of South Korea.
Mihae is married with 2 school-aged children. She enjoys traveling, reading and cooking.
Tammy Welch, PA-C
Tammy received her Masters of Medical Science Degree as a Physician Assistant (PA) from Emory University in Atlanta in 1999. She started her career in Primary Care in Richmond, VA working in a Primary Care Residency Program at the Medical College of Virginia, where she treated patients from newborn infants to the elderly. She relocated to Frederick in 2001, to be closer to family, and has been working in a variety of surgical subspecialties since that time. Her first position was with another Vascular Surgery practice where she assisted in surgical procedures, and performed office procedures including sclerotherapy. She then transitioned to a Thoracic Surgery practice where she was involved in all aspects of caring for lung cancer patients with cutting edge therapies such as Cyberknife and minimally invasive procedures to improve patient outcomes. She has worked with the Inpatient Surgical Physician Assistant group at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. The PA group assisted with management of all inpatient surgical and obstetrics patients. Tammy returned to Frederick to work with an Orthopedic Surgery group, working closely with a board certified Foot and Ankle Specialist and joint replacement surgeon. She joined the team at Horizon Vascular Specialists in the Fall of 2017, after working with the providers in the inpatient setting for many years.
Tammy has a strong commitment to patient care and providing patients with the best experience possible. She is known as a strong patient advocate and has been very involved with education for the hospital staff and community. She has mentored many PA and medical students in surgical subspecialties.
Tammy was very fortunate to grow up in an Air Force family which has allowed her to live abroad and travel extensively. She has lived in Hawaii and graduated from high school in Belgium. She continues to enjoy traveling, cooking, spending time with her family, and her yellow lab Finley.
